Information About Our Strap Hinge Styles
Dummy Strap Hinges:
These are faux hinges (non functional) that can be used on doors and shutters to provide an authentic appearance of a functioning strap hinge. For doors, three strap hinges are used and for consistency, three dummy strap hinges should be attached for an authentic appearance. For shutters, two or three strap hinges should be used.
Strap Hinges:
These are true working and load bearing hinges (functional) that can be used on doors and shutters to provide a true period-style function and appearance. For doors, three strap hinges are used (top, middle and bottom arrangement). For shutters, two or three strap hinges should be used. Load bearing strap hinges have weight limits and these limits are provided in the item descriptions. Note: weight limits shown are a maximum value and the limits are for three hinges per door (weight limits are not additive). Contact a consultant at LookInTheAttic & Company for more information.
